Praise God that people are recovering!!
gotta find out from ppl what they learned.
Rest and remember God’s good creation.
Rest and remember God’s great salvation.
That is not all, a greater REST awaits!! Enter that REST!!
record breaking number for the 4th Commandment!
Almost 1/2 way to the series, what a ride!
the busyness of life has overtaken blogging. catch up blogging for last week
Commandment 2 : No Idols. Not much was mentioned about the up and coming TV show Australian Idols. Striking idea is that no matter what we can come up with, it will always misrepresent God. Not that he is not representable. He is not represented by what we can create, he is the one who created all. That Colossian passage was really helpful
He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the first born over all creation… … For God was please to have all his fullness dwell in him and through him to reconcile everything to himself by making peace through the blood of his corss — whether things on earth or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:15-20
Commandment 3: Respect God’s Name
Three ways take God’s name for nothing, i wonder how many still remember today.
NEXT WK — Lunch together!!
God Only is the first commandment. and the Bible study surveyed the background of the giving of the commandments. and we saw how Jesus used the first commandment when he was tempted!!
If it was good enough for Jesus, i guess it is good enough for everybody!
Hope we all can still remember the 2nd commandment, we read it in church.
here is the hint:
No Idols.
the ending of Acts season 1 was more than just satisfying. The gospel of Jesus went to Caesarea, the Gentiles received the Holy Spirit. Therefore people like those in ABC can also share in the kingdom of God.
Like all good season finale, it was not without a cliff hanger: flash back to Saul, how is his conversion experience going to play out? How will he fulfill his role as the apostle to the Gentiles? Is there gonna be a showdown between Saul and Peter? Well, keep reading Acts, you dont have to wait for season 2 to start.
Coming Up: the 10 Commandments.
This series will not be like a TV series. I am planning to let the group to have more personal discussion in when we meet. The Word will have the impact on ppl’s lives, but hopefully we can be helping each other to discover and reflect more on how we live as God’s children in a place that is not always friendly them.
Commandment One: do you even know what it is?
The Samaritans heard the Gospel and believed. The apostles arrived and confirmed. The Holy Spirit was at work again.
This Simon dude was interesting. BUT, try not to be like him.
An Ethiopian eunuch reading the scriptures after worshiping in town, confronted by a Christian and was baptised.
Saul the persecutor became the one who suffered for the message he once hated. Being Commissioned to b the apostle to the Gentiles.
This Sunday we come to the last study of the series. How is it all going to end?
Welcomes: Amy!
MIA: HH, YC, KMM, SX. You guys ok?
We are back to da House!!
So we are like… SBS in MC in da House!
Since there was the partners’ lunch, i took the liberty to move SBS in Mc to da House.
Partners went pretty good. Biggest turn out ever! Some good sharing and praying time together. Still carrying the energy from camp over. Not sure if anyone signed up for being a new partner. Lunch was very good. Many different dishes to stick our fingers in to. Rice was nicely cooked. There were knives around so i can cut the stuff to smaller pieces for Dom.
SBS in Mc in da House was great! SC wrote the Bible study for this week. Too many questions for my liking but heh, it worked well. Good discussion from Acts 7. Hope the whole series of Acts will stick in ppl’s memory. Still trying to do it like a TV series. So far it is ok. Next wk, gotta remember the ‘previously in Acts’ segment. Should have some theme music….. any suggestions?
MIA: JJW (over cs). SX (had headache). HH (where were you?) KMM (ABC only)
Some newbies, praise the Lord!
Next Week: back to da House again!!
If you really need stuff from Mc, just bring it over :’)
After the death of Stephen, the spread of persecution, and the dispersion of the believers, what next? Here is the preview —
Saul (8:1-3) making more appearances, and appearances are made to him…. .
The camp was a great reminder of the wonderful God we have who shows grace without holding back!
The camp was a great witness to God’s goodness that brothers and sisters from all the congregations at cathedral came together to hear God’s word taught and shared in the vision of the cathedral.
The camp was a great challenge to live as children of light who have been given new life in Christ!
Next week, we continue meeting at the Mc from 1:30 pm!!
Camp is just around the corner. But still time to register!!
